Parking Enforcement
Be aware that Fareham Borough Council are enforcing the "No Waiting" restrictions against residents, rather than against people dropping off their children.
Some years ago we complained to Fareham Borough Council that people were driving down to the bottom of William Price Gardens to drop children off for Harrison School, and this was making life difficult for residents who needed to drive out to get to work. As a result the Council painted yellow lines around the estate and put up parking signs. Job done, or so we thought.
Some people have still been driving down William Price Gardens, so we contacted the council and asked them to enforce the rules.
The signs are only "No Waiting" signs, which means that it is still legal to drive down William Price Gardens, drop off the children, turn around and drive back up. Some people park their cars and get out to walk their children to the school gate. This is illegal even if someone is still sitting in the car, but the Council don't seem interested.
What the Council have done, however, is to send a parking enforcement officer around on a moped to check on cars parked in the afternoon. The people they catch are generally residents or their visitors. So be careful. You can park on the road outside the times given on the signs, and during those hours you can stop to drop people off or to unload goods. Anything else can earn you a parking ticket.
