Trees to be felled
The tree survey found that 5 of the Corsican pine trees around the estate need to be felled. This will be undertaken by Andy Baverstock of Acorn Tree Specialist Ltd.
Because trees on the estate are protected by a Tree Preservation Order this has first to be approved by Fareham Borough Council. You can see the application here, or if that doesn't work go to www.fareham.gov.uk/planningonline, select "Application Search", and enter the reference number P/19/0796/TO.
I have received an invitation to submit comments from FBC, but I gather that has only been sent to people who live near the affected trees. I would urge everyone on the estate who has an opinion on this subject to go to the FBC website and submit their comments. Note that the deadline is 20th August.
My own comment was as follows:
I am the Chairman of the Prices Lodge Residents Association. We have worked with Amanda Rickwood on this application and fully support it.
I understand it is standard practice to require replacement trees of the same type to be planted as close as possible. However these trees are corsican pines, which are not suited to the area. Some of them are also close to buildings and walls. Hence in this case replacement trees should be of more suitable species and planted well away from any structures. This will avoid them dying or being felled to avoid structural damage in a few years.
