Estate Visit 16.02.2016 Sarah Wareham accompanied by Michael Zeffertt

A complete circuit of the estate was made and the following items are of significance:

  1. WPG frontage on to Park Lane north side: Brackets on inner fencing (galvanised steel) are rusting and will need attention in the medium term.

  2. Park Lane border to the south of the estate: We examined the verge where it meets the pavement and no immediate action required. However it is agreed that some branches will require trimming by late spring.

  3. The open space at the SW corner of the estate was examined and quite a lot of ivy growth is in evidence. This may require reduction by the tree specialists in due course.

  4. The whole length of open space around the perimeter of PC and WPG was examined and again much ivy growth was in evidence. The culvert was however in a satisfactory condition with no apparent blockages despite the recent heavy weather. The hedge at the rear of no. 36 WPG seemed satisfactorily to have been reduced to just below the level of the garden wall, although there was still some unevenness of hedge height at the rear of no. 44. At the rear of no. 46 two smaller pine trees close to the cycle path had been effectively trimmed.

  5. Harrison Road perimeter (internal): There was evidence of some ivy growth having been removed although plenty more remained. One large pine tree (behind no. 40 WPG) was leaning towards the built estate at an angle of about 80 degrees. I suggested that at some time the heavier branches of this tree may require to be removed for safety’s sake as their weight could be causing the angle of the trunk to worsen. Sarah said that the tree surgeons had stated that the tree was not unsafe. I expressed some concern however.

  6. The NE corner of the open space was examined and again there was quite a lot of ivy growth here and there. We were both concerned about an area of unkempt bramble that borders the gardens in Uplands Crescent and it was agreed that this should be removed a.s.a.p. in order to forestall the possibility of another incursion on to the estate by Uplands Crescent residents.

Generally the estate was in good order particularly considering the recent wet and windy weather. I did, however, take the opportunity to remind Sarah of our dissatisfaction about the audit fee in the latest accounts and with the ‘explanation’ we had been given.
